At only 23 years of age, Abigail Clancy has already carved out a hugely successful career in both modelling and television and 2010 promises to be an even bigger year still for the Liverpudlian beauty.
As well as re-signing as the face and body of Matalan for the third successive year, Abbey is also featuring in Umbro’s worldwide World Cup advertising campaign and fronting Virgin Media’s Girl’s Night In promotion. In addition, Abbey has just signed up to feature in James Corden’s World Cup Live on ITV1.
Abbey first burst into the public conscience in 2006, when she became the runner up in Living TV’s hit series Britain’s Next Top Model. As well as being coached in modelling by the likes of Lisa Snowdon and Jerry Hall, the series enabled Abbey to work with some of the world’s top fashion photographers and magazines.
Following on the from the success of her stint in the series, Living TV were quick to sign Abbey up for her own series, namely Abbey & Janice: Beauty & The Best. This six part series aired in the UK in spring 2007 and followed Abbey through various travails as she was tutored by the world’s first supermodel, Janice Dickinson, to make it in the US modelling world.
Autumn 2007 saw Abbey enrol in ITV1’s primetime reality series, Hell’s Kitchen. With Marco Pierre White teaching the contestants the art of cordon bleu cooking, Abbey proved a huge hit in the series, winning over both viewers and the UK media alike. 2008 saw Abbey taken on her first presenting role on ITV2’s The Fashion Show.
As well as her TV work, Abbey has continued to model, appearing in magazines from Grazia and InStyle to GQ and Arena and has been voted FHM’s 10th Sexiest Woman in the World in 2010.
Having already achieved so much in so few years, 2010 is already promising to be Abbey’s most successful year yet.
